Collinsville High School bowling standout Courtney Otradovec recently agreed to continue her bowling career at Iowa Central Community College.
Otradovec was an All-Area and first-team All-Conference selection in 2014. She was second-team All-Conference her sophomore and junior seasons.
The 2014 Regional champion bowled the second-highest series in Kahok history when she rolled a 756 in the third round of the 2014 State finals. The Lady Kahoks finished fourth at the 2014 State finals.
An honor roll student every semester at CHS, Otradovec received three academic scholarships from Iowa Central, where she will be part of the engineering program. The opportunity to continue bowling and focus on engineering was a major factor in choosing Iowa Central, Otradovec said.
Although there are major universities with bowling programs, Otradovec said that is not part of her future.
“I think I’ll be finished after this,” she said, referring to her time at Iowa Central.
Otradovec’s mother, Pam, wanted her to attend a school closer to home than Fort Dodge, Iowa, but thinks Otradovec made the right choice.
“She needs to do what is going to make her happy,” Pam said.
Collinsville High School Head Bowling Coach Sean Hay said Otradovec was a team leader that helped provide focus for a young team.
“She was an example on how to conduct yourself both in success and struggles,” Hay said.
