Updated to correct State Championship game location to Centralia.

Doing their best St. Louis Cardinals impersonation, the Collinsville Middle School baseball team used a 3-run, 7th-inning rally to reach the State Championship game

The final inning surge pushed the Trail Blazers past Marion 6-3. Logan Whitehead, Devon Bovinett and Sam Phelps recorded hits in the top of the 7th. Logan Jackson and Garret Morski provided key sacrifices in the deciding frame.

Bovinett was the winning pitcher for CMS, which moves on to play Carterville at 11 a.m. Thursday in the State Championship of the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association. The game will be played in Centralia. Carterville advanced with a 5-3 win over Wesclin.
