Collinsville High School Student of the Month awards announced

Students of the Month

April – Courtney Hasty, Nicole Hasty and Jose Oseguera

While at Kiener Plaza on the senior field trip recently, the three worked together to save the life of a man who had fallen in the fountain and couldn’t swim.

May – Brayden Drum

Drum placed 4th in the state of Illinois in residential wiring and electronics skills competition this year. No other student from CHS has ever placed in the top half of this competition.

Seniors of the Month

May – Ian Bauer

Bauer is a senior in welding technology class. During the American Welding Society Student Night, St. Louis Section District 14 awarded Bauer a scholarship and he was recognized as the outstanding student from the Collinsville Area Vocational Center.

April – Tori McCluskey

McCluskey is a student leader in clinical health occupations who has, with the most professional approach, demonstrated patience, understanding and guidance for every student in her class as well as every patient she was assigned to care for at Rosewood Care Center.

McCluskey successfully completed all 21 skills on her first attempt with each skill. No other student has been able to do that this year.

Athletes of the Month

April – Jon Bednara

Bednara was the captain of the hockey team and lead the team to the Mississippi Valley Club Hockey Association 1A championship this year.  He was one of four representatives from          CHS at the America’s Showcase hockey event and has been offered a junior hockey contract.

May – Kyle Reeves

Reeves is a senior left handed pitcher with a 5-2 record and a 1.08 era. He has wins against Belleville East, Belleville West and Belleville Althoff. Reeves has a 4.2 GPA and will attend Quincy University in the fall.
