Collinsville High School girls soccer player Sophia Sharos is the first ever Metro Independent Athlete of the Week.

Sharos scored three goals and contributed an assist to lead the Lady Kahoks to a pair of conference victories this week. Two of Sharos goals this week, and four this year, have been game winners. She has seven goals and two assists on the season.
The Lady Kahoks defeated Belleville West 1-0 Tuesday and Alton 5-1 Thursday. The junior captain has led the team to a perfect 4-0 Southwestern Conference record and a 5-2-1 overall start.
Sharos and the team also volunteered Saturday at the Special Needs Soccer Association (see related story). It was the second time in less than a month that the team has traveled to Fenton, Mo. to volunteer for the organization.
