Cougars fall to Chicago State

Chicago State shot 56 percent from the field Monday and upended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men’s basketball 81-64 at the Jones Convocation Center.

Chicago State finished with four players scoring in double figures. Clarke Rosenberg led CSU with 20 points.

SIUE fell to 2-9. Rozzell Nunn led the offense with 12 points and six rebounds.

Chicago State, 5-6 overall, used a 14-2 run midway through the first half to take control of the game. CSU had a seven-point lead (38-31) at halftime but shot better than 60 percent from the field over the final 20 minutes.

Nate Duhon scored 19 off the bench for Chicago State. Eddie Denard added 18 while Corey Gray scored 10.

SIUE’s Maurice Wiltz and Keaton Jackson were the only other players in double figures with 10 points each. Jackson was a perfect 4 of 4 from the field.

The Cougars are idle until next Monday when they travel to Carbondale for a 7 p.m. contest against the Salukis of SIU Carbondale.
