Matchups for Schnucks Holiday Classic announced

Collinsville will face the Urbana Tigers in the first round of the 30th annual Collinsville Schnucks Holiday Classic, the CHS Athletic Department announced Sunday.

Schnucks_30_logo2The 16-team tournament will feature 29 games in only three days. The main floor of Vergil Fletcher Gymnasium will host 23 of the contests. The tournament kicks off at 9 a.m. Dec. 26 and concludes at 8 p.m. Dec. 28.

The Lincoln Railsplitters (6-0) have garnered the #1 seed. East St. Louis (5-2), which defeated Collinsville 59-33 Dec. 10, is the #2 seed. Althoff (5-1) earned the third seed and Belleville East, at 3-3, is seeded fourth.

The Kahoks (3-5) draw Urbana (4-4) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26. The Tigers have played two Schnucks Holiday Classic teams. They lost 59-42 to Quincy (3-3) to open the season and defeated Decatur Eisenhower (1-5) 69-56 on Dec. 6. The winner of the Collinsville, Urbana game will play the winner of the Althoff, Triad game and the loser will play the loser.

Below are the first-round matchups for Thursday Dec. 26. The team listed first will wear white uniforms. Records are current as of Dec. 15. All first-round games will be played in Fletcher Gym.

Game 1, 9 a.m.:  (4) Belleville East (3-3) vs. University City, Mo. (3-1)

Game 2, 10:30 a.m.:  Springfield Southeast (4-3) vs. Oakville, Mo. (1-0)

Game 3, 1 p.m.:  (1) Lincoln (6-0) vs. Granite City (1-5)

Game 4, 2:30 p.m.:  McCluer North, Mo. (3-2) vs. Decatur MacArthur (4-4)

Game 5, 4 p.m.:  (3) Althoff (5-1) vs. Triad (1-6)

Game 6, 6:30 p.m.:  Urbana (4-4) vs. Collinsville (3-5)

Game 7, 8 p.m.:  Quincy (3-3) vs. Chicago Marshall (1-2)

Game 8, 9:30 p.m.:  (2) East St. Louis (5-2) vs. Decatur Eisenhower (1-5)
