Freshman forward Kayla Delgado (Belleville, Ill.), sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Pelley(St. Charles Mo.), sophomore midfielder Cassidy Sherman (Algonquin, Ill.), and senior defender Kourtney Price (Eureka, Mo.) were each named to the 11-member All-OVC second team. Delgado also was honored as a member of the OVC’s All-Newcomer team.

“It’s always great when our athletes are recognized for their efforts,” SIUE Head Coach Derek Burton said. “These women have put in an extremely good season, starting with hard work in the offseason, and really excelled as the season unfolded.”

Delgado led the Cougars in scoring during the regular season with nine goals and an assist (19 points). She was third overall in goals in the OVC and fourth overall in scoring.

Pelley leads the OVC and is 26th in the NCAA with a 0.66 goals against average and seven shutouts. Her .838 save percentage is second in the OVC and 40th in the NCAA.

Sherman finished the regular season third on the team in scoring with five goals and an assist (11 points).

Price is fourth on the team in scoring with seven points, coming on two goals and three assists, while helping to anchor a defense that was statistically the best in the OVC for the second consecutive season.

“We look forward to the continued development of the younger players,” Burton added. “For Kourtney this is a deserved last recognition as her career comes to a close.”

Morehead State midfielder Jade Flory was honored as the OVC’s Offensive Player of the Year, while Southeast Missouri goalkeeper Ashton Aubuchon was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year. Angela Black, also of Morehead State, was chosen as the Freshman of the Year. Morehead State’s Warren Lipka and Eastern Illinois’ Jason Sherry shared Coach of the Year honors.

SIUE begins its tournament run Thursday with a 4 p.m. game against Eastern Illinois. The game is available live online at www.ovcdigitalnetwork.com.
