Edwardsville (10-0) ran up 59 points on Andrew High School (5-5), of Tinley Park, on their way to a 59-28 victory Friday. The biggest surprise in the score was that Andrew was able to manage 28, tied for the most Edwardsville allowed all season. The Tigers squeaked past East St. Louis 29-28 on Sept. 13. The Tigers’ defense yielded 10.3 points per game during the regular season. The offense averaged 43.8.

Edwardsville plays at Bradley Bourbonnais (7-3) at 3 p.m. Saturday in the second round. Bradley Bourbonnais defeated Pekin 24-20 (6-4) in their first-round game.

East St. Louis (7-3) rolled into the playoffs winners of five straight, after a 1-3 start. The Flyers scored 48 points per game during the stretch and allowed only eight per contest. Normal Community West (8-2) provided little resistance, falling to the Flyers 33-6 Saturday.

Normal High School (9-1) will try to do what their cross-town rivals could not when they play at East St. Louis at 1 p.m. Saturday in the second round. Normal defeated Bloomington (6-4) 30-0.

The season ended in the first round of the playoffs for O’Fallon and Belleville West. O’Fallon (5-5) was dumped 38-7 in Naperville Friday by Neuqua Valley (9-1). The Maroons (7-3) lost by a touchdown at home to Oswego East (7-3), 21-14, Saturday.
