Low speed police chase ends with 52 year-old man getting tasered

What began as an attempted traffic stop in Caseyville ended in Fairview Heights with a 52 year-old man having a taser deployed on him.

A Caseyville police officer attempted to stop William L. Henderson, of the 4300 block of Bunkum Road, Washington Park, at approximately 1:20 a.m. Friday, police said. Henderson led the office on a low-speed chase into Fairview Heights.

Henderson stopped his vehicle in the first block of Sharilane Drive, Fairview Heights and fled on foot. When he declined to stop voluntarily, the officer deployed his taser, which stopped Henderson.

Caseyville Police said Henderson was in possession of 200 grams of cannabis and a large amount of currency at the time. Henderson also lacked a valid driver’s license.

Henderson was charged with a Class 4 felony for possession of cannabis and a Class A misdemeanor for resisting and obstructing an officer.

Bone was set at $20,000 for Henderson.
