“Annie the Musical” coming to SIUE’s Dunham Hall Theater

Curtain’s Up Theater Company will perform the stage version “Annie, The Musical” Aug. 28 – 31 at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Dunham Hall Theater.

Annie FlyerThe play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28 – 30, with matinees, Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $10 for children 18 years and younger. Order tickets online at www.curtainsuptheater.com through PayPal or at these locations: Edwardsville Public Library, 112 S. Kansas St., Edwardsville; Ashman’s Pharmacy and Gifts, 209 E. Main St., Collinsville; and Happy Up, 6654-A Edwardsville Crossing, Edwardsville.

Groups of 12 or more at the same performance can buy tickets in advance and receive a $2 discount per ticket. The groups can order by email at tickets@curtainsuptheater.com or by phone: (618) 960-3300. Dunham Hall does not handle tickets for CUTC events.

The popular comic strip heroine Annie takes center stage in one of the world’s best-loved musicals. With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Anniecharms everyone’s hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City.

She is determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous and magical world of New York City. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations and befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
