Catcher Kassidy Smith, who was named Second-Team All-State earlier this summer, is the lone Kahok on the Southwestern Conference’s First Team. Outfielder Becky Gibbs was tabbed for the Second Team.

Smith led the Kahoks in average, home runs, RBI, doubles and hits 2014. In 118 at bats, she had 54 hits, good for a .458 batting average. Her average was fifth best in the conference.

Smith’s 12 home runs were four better than the next highest total in the SWC and set a school record. Her 15 career home runs are tied for the CHS career record.

The sophomore backstop also knocked 11 extra-base hits – nine doubles and two triples. She drove in 40 runs, sixth best in the conference, while scoring 25.

Smith’s strikeouts per plate appearance was a microscopic .022, striking out just three times in 139 plate appearances. She drew 13 walks and was hit six times. Her 103 total bases, in 36 games, and .873 slugging percentage were tops in the conference.

Outfielder Becky Gibbs finished the 2014 campaign with a .376 batting average. Of her 44 hits, four were triples, tied for second in the league with Jessica Ledford, who left the Kahoks midway through the season.

Gibbs 40 runs scored were a whopping 15 better than any Kahok teammate and good for sixth in the league. The speedy sophomore swiped 12 bags, good for the seventh in the SWC.

Gibbs struck out only seven times in 129 plate appearances, good for .056 strikeout per plate appearance ratio.

The Kahoks finished 17-19 in 2014.
