Caseyville police taser suspect following car chase

Early Friday morning, a woman approached a Caseyville police officer who had stopped a vehicle in the 2400 block of Old Country Inn Drive, Caseyville.

Tony BoganThe woman told the officer she had been beaten and her vehicle stolen. Another officer saw the stolen vehicle on nearby Tucker Drive and attempted to stop it. The vehicle refused to stop and a chase follwed.

The chase ended in the 200 block of North 63rd Street, East St. Louis. The officer then chased Tony D. Bogan, 26, of the 700 block of North 60th Street, East St. Louis on foot.

When Bogan was caught, he fought the officer, who used a taser to subdue him, Caseyville Police said. Neither the officer nor Bogan were injured.

Bogan was charged Saturday with felony counts of unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated fleeing and eluding. He was charged with misdemeanors for domestic battery and resisting a police officer.

Bond was set at $75,000 for Bogan, who is currently held in the t. Clair County Jail.
