Collinsville Head Coach Lori Billy said it was a good night for the Collinsville guards. “Our post players were getting doubled and tripled and they would kick it out and our guards were able to knock shots down,” Billy said.

Nine players scored for Collinsville (5-11), led by Aubreeney Brady and Lexie Thompson with nine each. The Lady Kahoks guards notched 37 of the team’s 49 points. Collinsville connected on eight 3-pointers.

Two of Thompson’s three triples made the difference in the game. Leading by single digits in the fourth quarter, Thompson made 3-pointers on consecutive possessions to give her team room to relax.

“Offensively, she was huge for us,” Billy said.

Thompson’s clutch baskets were needed thanks to a five-point third quarter that saw the Lady Kahoks’ lead over Marion (1-18) shrink to five points. Billy said her team lacked energy in the quarter. “We played flat,” Billy said. “I mean we just really played flat.”

The team responded with a 17-point fourth quarter, their highest scoring quarter of the game. Brady scored five points in the fourth and Julie Scheiter knocked down three of four free throws to help secure the victory.

Alyson Gwaltney scored 13 to lead the Lady Wildcats. Haley Rushing contributed 12 points for Marion on only two made baskets. Rushing was 8-13 from the free throw line.

The Collinsville scorers were: Brady-9, Thompson-9, Buettner-8, Scheiter-6, Brombolich-5, Giacoletto-5, Mahan-3, Morgon-2, Smith-2
