Volunteers needed to distribute food and toys to 200 needy families

The Collinsville Area Ministerial Association is asking for volunteers to help distribute food and toys to 200 families in the Collinsville and State Park area.

The group will deliver boxes of food and a coupon, showing the date and time families can pick up toys, on Saturday, Dec. 14. Volunteers with cars and those able to deliver the boxes are needed from 8 a.m. to noon. The majority of deliveries are completed by 10:30.

Preparation for the toy distribution will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the First United Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 201 E. Church St. Collinsville. Volunteers are needed to set up tables, sort and layout toys.

Volunteers are needed from 6-10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 to assist with toy distribution. Families with a coupon will arrive in one of three groups, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Volunteers will assist the families as they shop for toys.

Food and toy donations are welcome. Toy donations can be dropped off at the Collinsville Area Food Pantry at 201 E. Church St., Collinsville. Anyone who wishes to donate food can contact Michael Watkins at 618-346-1861.
