A Collinsville man was charged Tuesday with the attempted sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl.

Irwin Todd Miller, 43, is alleged to have woken the child while kneeling next to her with his genitalia exposed. When the victim awoke, the suspect left the room, Collinsville Police report. The girl was spending the night at the home of a family friend when the incident occurred.

The incident was reported on Aug. 17. Following an investigation, Miller’s residence was served with a search warrant Monday, police reported. The Madison County State’s Attorney office charged miller with one felony count of attempted predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one felony count of sexual exploitation of a child.

Miller is under investigation in other jurisdictions for similar offenses, but no charges have been filed, Collinsville Police reported. Anyone with information about this case or others involving Miller should contact Detective Wilbert Jeremias, of the Collinsville Police Department, at 618-344-2131 Ext. 5275

Bond was set at $300,000 for Miller. No date has been set for a preliminary hearing in the case.
