Calls for snow around Kahok country recently have been somewhat like crying wolf, but the forecast for snow late Monday evening and into the overnight hours may have radar backup.

A band of snow has started to move across Kansas City and appears to be headed down Interstate 70 towards the Metro East. The National Weather Service is currently predicting a 60 percent chance of snow in the area, with an arrival time around 7 p.m.

Accumulation is not expected to exceed one-half inch.

Tuesday’s high temperature will be a cruelly frigid 37 degrees, with some scattered snowflakes possible.

If the forecast holds, the Kahok softball team should be able to complete their 4:15 p.m. game in Bethalto Monday and be home before the snow arrives. The softball team will be celebrating the cold weather for its 4:30 p.m. home game Tuesday against Dupo.
