While responding to another matter in the 60th block of Burlington in Collinsville, at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday morning, Charlie D. Johnson, 36, was taken into custody. At the time of the arrest, Collinsville Police had information that Johnson, known by the street name “Unc,” was a suspect in the carjacking incident, but it was not known that he was at the residence on Burlington when officers went to the home, Detective Mark Kuechle said.

On Aug. 2 at 6:15 a.m., Collinsville Police were called to the 700 block of Illinois for a report of an armed robbery. The victim said an African-American male approached her and displayed a gun. He demanded her keys, money and cellphone. The victim was not physically harmed.

The suspected gunman, Johnny Glover, 20, of the 200 block of Hill Street in Madison, Ill., is accused of taking victim’s car and, while fleeing the scene, stopping to pick up an accomplice. Johnson is the suspected accomplice. Glover was captured Monday in St. Louis

Johnson and Glover were both charged with Class X armed robbery, Class X aggravated vehicular hijacking and Class 2 offenses related to motor vehicles, all felonies.

Bond for both men was set at $250,000. Johnson is in custody in the Madison County Jail. Glover is being held in the St. Louis City Justice Center on unrelated felony charges, Police said.
