Collinsville Police were called to the 700 block of Illinois at 6:15 a.m. on Aug. 2 for a report of an armed robbery. The victim said an African-American male approached her and displayed a gun. He demanded her keys, money and cellphone.

After taking the items from the victim, the robber stole her car, stopping to pick up an accomplice as he fled the scene. The victim was not physically harmed.

There is no known connection between the victim and the two suspects, Lt. Todd Link of Collinsville Police Department said. The two suspects are known to have friends and relatives in the Collinsville area.

Johnny Glover, 20, of the 200 block of Hill Street in Madison, Ill., was captured on Monday in St. Louis following an investigation by the Collinsville Police Department, the Metro East Auto Theft Task Force and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The victim’s car was also recovered, Link said.

Glover, who is believed to be the gunman, was charged with Class X armed robbery, Class X aggravated vehicular hijacking and Class 2 offenses related to motor vehicles, all felonies.

The Collinsville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the second suspect, who is still at large. Police released photographs of the African-American man to assist with identification.

Investigation revealed the second suspect’s street name and that he has been known to frequent South City in St. Louis, East St. Louis and the Collinsville area, Link said.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to call Detective Mark Kuechle at 618-344-2131, ext. 5138, or the St. Louis Crimestoppers at 866-371-8477.

Bond in Madison County was set at $250,000 for Glover, who is being held in the St. Louis City Justice Center on unrelated felony charges, Police said.
