Peskar smacked a two-run double in the top of the sixth inning to provide the only runs in the Kahoks 2-0 Southwestern Conference victory. Tanner Houck and Daniel Franke scored on the play.

Reeves threw his second complete game of the season, while lowering his ERA to 1.30. He walked two and fanned four. He allowed two hits to the Maroons (9-9, 3-3 SWC), although Collinsville Head Coach Pete Trapp said one could have been ruled an error.

The senior lefty leads the team in wins, innings pitched (32 1/3) and ERA. Houck leads the Kahoks (11-7, 4-3 SWC) with six starts.

Trapp said it was good for Peskar, who has been struggling recently, to get the winning hit.

“For a kid whose been pretty consistent, then to struggle, for him to come out of it tonight was just awesome for him,” Trapp said.

The defensive play of the game was a two-out, bases loaded pickoff at second base from Reeves to Bauer.

“It was at a great time and it was a great play by two very good ball players,” Trapp said.

The victory snapped a three-game losing skid for the Kahoks.

“We’ve struggled the last few games. We haven’t hit the ball well, we haven’t been doing things right and we still didn’t do everything right tonight, but we found a way to get it done. And he (Reeves) pitched well,” Trapp said. “We still have a long way to go to be the team we want to be, but it was a good step.”

The Kahoks next host Belleville West for a 4:30 p.m. game Tuesday. The contest is a make-up for an early season rain out.
