“We did it to ourselves tonight,” Kahoks Head Coach Clay Smith said.

Duchesne’s first goal came on defensive marking mistakes, Smith said. The result was a tap in and a 1-0 Pioneers’ lead.

The deciding goal came when a rebound off the Lady Kahoks’ wall on a free kick was played into the penalty box. Collinsville was caught watching the action, Smith said, as a Duchesne player controlled the ball and knocked home the winning score.

The Kahoks’ attempted to come back, notching a 75th minute goal when freshman Emily Holten scored her third goal of the year on a feed from sophomore Kelsey Delisle, but it was too late.

Collinsville (3-2-1) went down to defeat for the first since a season opening loss. The two goals allowed by the Lady Kahoks were the first scored against them since the first match of the season.

The Lady Kahoks return to action when Belleville West comes to Kahok Stadium for a 6:30 p.m. game Tuesday.
