The Kahoks (3-6 Southwestern Conference, 10-12) grabbed an early lead that they twice relinquished, before going ahead for good with 3 minutes 15 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Granite City (0-8 SWC, 2-17) struggled all evening from the floor, shooting 33.3 percent.

Collinsville Head Coach Darin Lee said the diamond press fatigued the Warriors in the first half. The fatigue led to 10 first-half turnovers and the lackluster shooting performance.

Collinsville was 22-41 (53.7 percent) from the floor and 9-19 from beyond the arc in the 58-38 victory.

Anfirnee Wilkinson led all scorers with 23 points on 9-15 shooting, including 4-7 from beyond the arc for CHS. It was Brett Langley, though, who got the Kahoks going. Langley knocked down two first quarter 3-point attempts and the Kahoks finished the quarter with an 18-11 lead.

The second quarter was the difference in the game. Leading 18-11 entering the frame, CHS outscored the Warriors 21-4. Wilkinson connected three times from 3-point range in the period and Langley twice.

Collinsville carried a 24-point lead into the half and a 20-point lead into the fourth quarter. Granite City scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter, but we were never able to get closer than 15 points.

The Kahoks have now won six of their last nine games. Granite City has lost seven straight.

The Collinsville scorers were: Wilkinson-23, Langley-12, Davis-12, Wethers-4, Schaffer -3. Chambers-2, Buehne-2

Collinsville travels to Nashville Saturday for a 6:30 p.m. start against North Tech in the Nashville Shootout.
