A night after scoring only six third quarter points – and none in the last 4 minutes 50 seconds – CHS (1-5 SWC, 5-9) dropped 25 on Granite City (0-6 SWC, 2-11) in what again proved to be the decisive period of play. Trailing 25-22 at the half, four Collinsville players connected from beyond the arc in the quarter and the Kahoks went on to a 60-50 victory.

The Warriors scored 14 points in the third, their most productive quarter, but Collinsville Head Coach Darin Lee said the pace wore the Warriors down.

“We turned up the pressure in the third quarter and sped up the game a little bit and they got a little tired,” Lee said.

Each team connected seven times from 3-point land for the game. Anfirnee Wilkinson made three for Collinsville. Tre Allen and Kenny Berry had three each for Granite City. Before Saturday, Allen had connected on only 2-11 attempts on the season.

Despite Granite City’s difficult season, Lee said the Warriors competed hard. “They played about as well as they could play,” Lee said. “They made some tough shots”

Wilkinson led Collinsville with 15 points. Emondre Rickman scored 13. Also scoring for Collinsville were: Shaffer-8, Langley-7, Midgett-6, Wethers-6, Davis-5.

Berry’s 18 lead Granite City, followed by Allen’s 13.

The Kahoks return to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday when they host Belleville West at Vergil Fletcher Gym.
