The two men solicited home repair work at a home on Lou Juan Drive, in Glen Carbon, on Dec. 10. After completing the work, the men were paid by check for their services, police said.

The men contacted the resident the next day demanding cash payment, claiming the check was not cleared by the bank. The elderly man paid the two men in cash, but later learned that the original check was cashed, police said.

The victim contacted the Madison County Sheriff’s office on Dec. 17. Police arrested Noah Boswell, 24, of the 600 block of Peacock Circle in Pontoon Beach, the same day. Boswell was charged Monday in Madison County Circuit Court on a felony charge of theft over $500.

Boswell is currently held in Madison County Jail on $75,000 bond.
