This fall, Collinsville’s Italian Fest once again offers activities to get you off the couch and moving.

Italian FestThe annual Italian Fest 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 20 at 8 a.m. in Uptown Collinsville. The route takes runners through the heart of the city along paved roads with police escort and traffic control. Big River Running Company will provide electronic chip timing for quick, reliable results, and runners will enjoy music at the finish line before the awards ceremony.

Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers and the top three finishers in each age group. Individuals who take advantage of early bird registration, before Sept. 8 get a discounted registration price and are guaranteed a T-shirt. Special discounts apply to groups of 10 or more who register by Sept. 8 with a group registration form. Pre-registration ends Sept. 19.

The Kids’ Fun Run follows at 9 a.m. on Main Street. This half-mile noncompetitive race includes awards for every participant. Children can register for the Fun Run on the regular 5K registration form.

At 11 a.m., parents and infants will gather at the corner of Main and Clinton for the annual Diaper Dash. This is a 10-foot carpet crawl for infants 12 months and under. Heats are grouped by age. The first three babies to cross the carpet in each heat receive a special prize, but all participants get a goody bag. Registration takes place from 10:30 to 11 a.m. before the dash.

Biking enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Paisan Pedal Push, a midnight bike ride that wraps up the fest on Saturday, Sept. 20. Participants bring their bikes and meet at the Collinsville Memorial Public Library, 318 W. Main St., for a leisurely midnight ride through the city. This activity is non-competitive and family friendly. Escort provided by the Collinsville Police Department.

Bicycles will be given away to one male and one female attendance prize winner. Preregister by Sept. 1 to receive an Italian Fest T-shirt.
