Dennis Harold French, 51, from Caseyville, was recently indicted by a federal grand jury on charges that he stole unemployment and disability benefits from the United States Railroad Retirement Board.

French allegedly defrauded the board by concealing his unemployment status in order to receive occupational disability benefits from May 2009 until June 2012.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release. The case was investigated by agents from the Office of Inspector General, Office of Investigations and the U.S. Railroad Retirement board.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Liam Coonan is prosecuting the case.
