The Collinsville Area Recreation District has closed Pleasant Ridge Park, in Maryville, until snow can be safely removed from the roadway.
The 12-inch snowfall received in the area Saturday and Sunday was combined with gusting winds to cause blizzard like conditions. The combination of deep snow drifts, the terrain of Pleasant Ridge Park and continued cold temperatures make it impractical to clear the roadway that allows access to the park.
CARD Director Terry Wilson said a limited staff, which included himself, was able to clear snow at other district facilities.
After another snowfall Thursday, warmer temperatures are predicted for the area, which could allow for snow removal and the park to re-open. When the gate at Pleasant Ridge Park is opened, it will signal the re-opening of the park, Wilson said.
