The following addresses are under an immediate boil order:

– 1491, 1502, 1600, 1602, 1610, 1700, 1701, 1706, 1710 and 1713 Vandalia Street

– 181, 182, 183, 191, 192, 193, 194, 201, 202, 203 and 204 Burlington Drive

– 117, 118, 120, 121, 122, 123, 125, 126, 128 and 129 Mounds Avenue

– 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 Meadow Heights Professional Park

– 400, 401, 402, 403 and 405 Meadow Lane

– 1404 Franklin Ave.

Water was turned off at those addresses around 8 a.m. Monday and is expected to be turned back on no later than 2 p.m. Residents are asked to bring water to be used for drinking or cooking to a full, rolling boil for at least five minutes.

The boil order is expected to last at least 24 hours. Tests will be conducted on the water samples taken from the affected area after water service resumes. It typically takes about 24 hours to obtain the results of the samples, Director of Water/Wastewater Dennis Kress said.

The scheduled water outage and boil order is necessary as crews disconnect and cap the old water main and connect to the new water main installed as part of the Illinois Route 159 project through town, Kress said. Flyers were hand-delivered to businesses and residents in the affected area.

Wednesday Boil Order

Residents of 620, 621, 624, 625, 628, 629, 633, 636, 637, 641 and 645 High School Street will be under a boil order beginning at about 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Water service is scheduled to be turned off at those addresses from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday as further work is done to disconnect from the old water main and connect to the new line, Kress said. The residents, who were notified previously, should expect to be under a boil order for about 24 hours.
