Collinsville, Ill. – Collinsville’s Aubreeny Brady connected on school-record 22 free throw attempts Tuesday on her way to a 30-point night, but BreLaNair Cox nearly matched her point-for-point, carrying East St. Louis to 61-53 road victory.
The teams combined to attempt 72 free throws. The Lady Kahoks (4-2, 0-2 Southwestern Conference) made 32-42 attempts. Brady outshot East St. Louis (2-1, 2-1 SWC) by herself, knocking down 22-30 compared to the Flyerettes 17-30. Brady’s 22 were one better than Marc Fletcher, whose 21 in a 1973 game was the previous Collinsville High School record.
Cox scored 27 points to lead East St. Louis, going 11-18 from the charity stripe. Her eight field goals nearly matched the CHS total of 10.
The Lady Kahoks next host O’Fallon at 7:30 p.m. at Fletcher Gym.
