A weather system developed in southeast Missouri late Sunday night, bringing a wintry mix, including freezing rain into the Metro East.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until noon Monday for the area. With ice accumulating overnight, commuters may find hazardous travel conditions on untreated surfaces.
At about 3 a.m. Monday, Collinsville Director of Streets Rod Cheatham said he was dispatching all salt trucks to treat Collinsville streets. He expects roads to be mostly clear in time for the morning commute.
The wintry mix could continue through 9 a.m., the National Weather Service said.
