The Collinsville High School boys basketball team won by 40 points Friday, 21 points fewer than their previous margin of victory.
The Kahoks opened the Marion Thanksgiving Tournament with a meager 15-point victory over Herrin. After defeating Sumner 80-19 Wednesday, Collinsville overwhelmed Salem 67-27 Friday night.
Collinsville ran out to 24-6 lead after one quarter and held a 34-6 halftime advantage over the Apollo Conference school with an enrolment of 759. The Wildcats scored 10 third-quarter points, the only stanza in which they cracked double digits.
Senior guard Anfirnee Wilkinson led all scorers with 14 points. Harrison Wethers (11) and Zach Flora (10) joined Wilkinson in double figures. Wethers’ seven boards were a team high, as were Nic Gonet’s five assists and Emondre Rickman’s five blocked shots.
The Kahoks play two games Saturday in the tournament; at 1 p.m. against Mt. Vernon and 8:30 p.m. against host Marion.
