The Collinsville High School Auditorium will be the scene Thursday evening for a drug awareness presentation designed to educate parents about drug use by kids.
A CHS administrator will provide insight into what it is like to be the mother of a victim. Detective Chris Coyne of the Troy Police Department will provide information to parents about the harmful effects of drugs and indications of drug use.
Parents will learn what kids face when they encounter the drug lifestyle, event organizers said. Signs of drug use, how to respond to them and where to get help will be discussed. Parents will also learn now to help children resist the pressure to experiment with drugs.
Organizers promise anyone who attends will leave with a fuller, more accurate understanding of the impact drugs have on today’s youth.
Parent U is at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 in the CHS Auditorium.
