Billy Joe McCallister was charged Thursday with a felony for alleging carrying out a daylight burglary at a State Park home.

A neighbor called the Madison County Sheriff’s office Wednesday at about 4:43 p.m. when the person witnessed a man kick in a door and enter a home in the 3200 block of Fairmont Avenue. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police and Collinsville Police searched the area and found McCallister one block away, walking on VFW Lane.

McCallister, 39, of the 600 block of Margaret Avenue, Granite City, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody. The home was unoccupied when McCallister entered it, police said.

Bond was set at $80,000 for McCallister.
