Police stop in Caseyville nets 140 grams of cannabis

A stop for a minor traffic violation in the 2400 block of Old Country Inn Drive, Caseyville ended with two felony drug charges for a Fairview Heights man.

Jacob D. McAfee, 32, of the 9800 block of Richfield Road, Fairview Heights, was stopped by a Caseyville police officer at about 9:43 p.m. Wednesday. The officer smelled a strong scent of raw cannabis, which led to a search of McAfee’s vehicle, police said.

Police discovered 25 bags of cannabis, totaling 140 grams, a spokesperson said. McAfee was taken into custody without incident and later charged with felony unlawful possession with the intent to deliver cannabis and felony unlawful possession of cannabis.

Bond was set at $20,000 for McAfee, who is being held at the St.Clair County Jail.
