Alton, Ill – The Collinsville High School volleyball team moved to a perfect 4-0 in conference play Tuesday, handing Alton only its second loss of the season, against 19 victories.
The Kahoks (6-6, 4-0 Southwestern Conference) started slow, losing the first set 25-19 to the Redbirds (19-2, 2-1 SWC).
Head Coach Tracy Plagemann said the team came out a little slow and error prone, before bouncing back to take the final two sets. In the second set, Collinsville jumped out to an early four-point lead behind the serving of Alyssa Capizzi and went on to win 25-20.
The third set was a back-and-forth struggle, before the Kahoks prevailed 25-22.
“We stayed composed and continued to push,” Plagemann said. “Kelsie Jeffries made some great digs towards the end of the third set, which kept Alton’s offense off balance.”
Gabby Hancher led CHS with a career high 13 kills.
Collinsville will look for its fifth straight win Tuesday at O’Fallon. Game time is 5:45 p.m.
