Inspections will close portions of the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge beginning today. Work is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 26, the Illinois Department of transportation announced.
The bridge will be closed to westbound traffic Monday, Sept. 15 and Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The westbound lane will be re-opened to traffic each day at 3 p.m.
The bridge will be closed to eastbound traffic Wednesday Sept. 17 and Thursday, Sept. 18 from 8 a.m to 3 p.m. daily. The eastbound lanes will re-open to traffic at 3 p.m. each day.
From Monday, Sept. 22 to Thursday, Sept. 26, the eastbound right lane on the MLK Bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The eastbound left lane and the westbound lane will remain open during this work. All restrictions will be removed daily at 3 p.m.
