Caseyville will hold its annual Frontier this Saturday and Sunday at Caseyville Park.
The event will feature re-enactors in period style clothing. Re-enactor goods, food and drinks will be sold both days.
The re-enactors will be demonstrating a wide variety of skills, have kid-friendly activities, music, trader goods and an area set aside for visitors to try their hand at throwing a tomahawk.
On Saturday, visitors and re-enactors can compete in the Frying Pan Toss at about 1 p.m. Visitors can watch re-enactors compete in a canoe race at about 2 p.m.
A skills contest between re-enactors will take place at about 1 p.m. Sunday.
Frontier Days gives visitors a glimpse into the past.
“It’s a fun way to look back at history and see how different life was then” event organizer MK Dashke said.
Re-enactors come from all over the Midwest and set up camp on site. Some will bring tepees.
“We’re living life like it was 200 years ago” said re-enactor Bob “Many Hats” Daniel, one of the event organizers.
The event is free and will be held rain or shine. Visitors are welcome from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Caseyville Park is at 40 W. Reynolds St., off Illinois Route 157
