An open garage door may be to blame for purse stolen from an elderly Collinsville woman.

On July 2, a witness saw a white female quickly exiting an open garage door in the Woodland Trails subdivision. The family of the 84-year-old resident later determined that her purse was missing.

Police were called, but there was no physical evidence at the scene, Detective Bud Jeremias said. After the purse went missing, there was no attempt to access the victims financial accounts, until recently, Jeremias said.

Surveillance footage from a local business captured the suspect. Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the person in the attached picture.

The victim’s family is also reviewing the images.
