Eight months after the Illinois Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act went into effect and eight months before the first dispensaries are expected to open, the State of Illinois is hosting three town hall meetings to answer questions about the program.
Collinsville will host the first town hall, at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 14 in the Kenneth Hall State Regional Office Building at 1102 Eastport Plaza Dr. The meetings are to answer questions for those interested in applying to be a patient or caregiver, or obtaining a license for a dispensary or a cultivation center.
The State of Illinois announced Friday that applications are now available for patients and caregivers. The patient application and caregiver application forms will be accepted beginning Sept. 2.
Collinsville city officials have been approached about potentially being a future site of a dispensary. Draft application forms were released Friday for the dispensaries and cultivation centers. The applications will be accepted Sept. 8 – 22.
Lists of frequently asked questions and answers for patient and caregivers, dispensaries and cultivation centers were also released Friday.
The remaining town hall meetings will be held in Peoria at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18 in the Peoria Public Library and at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug 20 at Northeastern Illinois University.
