The Collinsville Memorial Library Center invites you to meet local author Carolyn Mers on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m.
Mers will discuss experiences from the first 10 years of her mother’s dementia. She documented the daily ups and downs of this disease in “The Alzheimer’s Roller Coaster: The Story of our Ride.” Openly revealing her insecurities, fears, and stress, as well as her own subsequent health issues, Mers’ story is both very personal and widely universal.
Mers also recently had a short story, “We Are a Family,” selected for inclusion in the newest edition of “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Living with Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias.” This story describes the experience of finding an extended family while choosing a skilled care facility.
“The Alzheimer’s Roller Coaster” will be on sale after the presentation.
This program is free, but registration is required. Please call the library at 618-344-1112 or visit the Main Desk for more information.
The library is located at 408 West Main Street.
