A State Park man is accused of running from police following an afternoon parking lot brawl in Fairmont City, then providing a false name when he was captured.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department responded to a large fight Saturday at about 2:16 p.m. in the parking lot of Perez Cantina, 5903 Collinsville Road, Fairmont City. Cesar Casas, 27, of the 3400 block of Fairmont Avenue in State Park, was involved in the multi-person fight, police said, and fled the scene when deputies arrived.
Casas was caught after a short chase and arrested for obstruction of justice. While being booked, Madison County Jail personnel discovered that Casas had used a false identity when he was arrested and while being processed at the jail, police said. Casas was later charged with felony obstruction of justice for providing a fictitious identity.
Bond was set at $20,000 for Casas, who remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.
