Collinsville Police are investigating a report of possible sexual abuse involving two minors at Splash City Waterpark in Collinsville.
Police were called to the waterpark at about 2 p.m. Thursday to investigate after a Splash City staff member observed two males, ages 17 and 12, engaged in a sexual act. The two were part of a group children that had some special needs who were visiting the park. Leaders were present to supervise the group, Susan Zaber, Collinsville Area Recreation District interim executive director said. CARD operates Splash City
Assistant Chief of Police Tom Coppotelli said the matter is under investigation. It appears the act was consensual, Coppotelli said, calling the situation complicated. The incident was not a random act.
“At no time was the general public in danger,” Coppotelli said.
