The Collinsville Police Department announced that it will conduct a roadside safety check on June 27 between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.

The safety check is part of increased traffic enforcement between June 25 and July 6. In conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the department will enforce DUI, seatbelt and cell phone usage violations with a zero tolerance, Collinsville Police said.

I think it would better if it weren’t announced to the public… -_-

  2. Joshua says:

I wonder how much money they’ll rake in from that.

  3. Jen says:

Probably a lot Joshua- people still continue to break laws. Duh!

  4. Robert says:

    Unlawful action by city police.
Citizens have no bravery left. We allow these swine to record everything we do,say and hear. Yet nothing is done about it.
    Nation of cowards

The Nazis performed checks like this when looking for jews.

David: It’s published because the Supreme Court ruled that it had to be to be to pass constitutional checks. Michigan Dept. of State Police v. Sitz, 496 U.S. 444.

Robert/Kelly: See previous comment – Far from unlawful. If you want it to be unlawful go get politically active and do something about it. Whining about it on this website won’t change anything.

Resistance is futile huh, Kev? Checkpoints should rub ANY freedom loving American citizen the wrong way. If you think roadblocks and checkpoints are good for ANYTHING besides harassing citizens and adding increased fees, fines and taxes then you are not MY kind of American. Collinsville was a nice little town until Dave Niebur showed up (and was unceremoniously shown the door). Ed Delmore, probably a pretty good cop was also shown the door after shutting down all the video poker machines in the City’s Fraternal Organizations. We all know what the Supreme Court has rued…we also know that every time law enforcement is given an inch, they take a mile. They justify their behavior (these checkpoints) through the implementation of “SITUATIONAL ETHICS”. The best part for me is that you will NEVER catch me out running around much after 9 PM……Im an old geezer.
