When Darryl K. Schofield, of East St. Louis, traveled to Caseyville on June 11 to rob houses on Covina Court, he brought a backpack full of tools and a mat, to protect his knees, Caseyville Police allege.
Police were called to the scene at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, where Schofield, 34, was arrested without incident. The items stolen in the multiple-house burglary spree were recovered at the scene, police said.
Schofield brought a wrench, screwdriver, pliers, saw and a mat in a backpack to assist in burglarizing the houses, Caseyville Detective Gerard Spratt said.
The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Schofield with two counts of felony residential burglary and one felony count of possession of burglary tools.
Bond was set at $50,000 for the suspect, who is currently in the St. Clair County Jail.
