Collinsville scored the first two runs against Edwardsville Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Kahok softball team, Edwardsville scored the next 20 runs to finish a 20-2 victory in five innings.
Samantha Buettner’s fourth home run of the season scored Alex Holten to give Collinsville (15-16, 3-10 SWC) a 2-0 lead. The Tigers (27-3, 11-2 SWC) answered with four in the bottom half of inning and scored in each of the four innings they batted.
Kahok pitchers allowed a single run in the second, eight runs in the third and seven in the fourth. Edwardsville scored 20 runs on 20 hits.
The 20 runs allowed were the most of the season for Collinsville. The previous season high was 15, in a 15-14 loss to Centralia on April 8.
Buettner, Sarah Scrum and Becky Gibbs had hits for Collinsville. Sidney Bost started, before giving way to Addison Wickiser.
