Mayra Gonzalez, Tyler Jones and Corey Kitsch were named the Collinsville High School Character Education Students of the Month for April.
The three were honored for best epitomizing the April character trait of “be caring; show concern for others.”
As part of Co-op, Gonzalez works in the office at Collinsville Middle School, where she not only performs well in her job as an office assistant, but also serves as an interpreter for teachers, parents and administrators. She also assists teachers in the classroom at CMS.
Gonzalez is always willing to volunteer to help others, especially in her Hispanic community, CHS teacher Kelli Davidson said.
Jones is always positive, attempts to cheer people up and genuinely cares about people, CHS teacher Bill Craft said. Jones offers to help others, even with small tasks, during labs, Craft said.
Always eager to ensure everyone is included class activities, Kitsch will ask students who do not typically work in a group to join his group, CHS teacher Cindy Tesdall said.
“He really wants to make everyone feel welcome and cared about,” Tesdall said.
