The Collinsville softball team lost Tuesday for the sixth time in their last seven games, dropping a 4-0 decision at Belleville West in Southwestern Conference Play.
Sidney Bost got the ball for the Kahoks (10-9, 1-6 SWC) and pitched a six-inning complete game, allowing only one earned run on four hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Head Coach Cindy Kolda said Bost threw great, but Collinsville could not get the timely hits to support her.
The Kahoks collected seven hits on the day and had at least one base runner in each of the first six innings, but could not score. The problem was not poor contact, Kolda said.
“(They) hit the ball hard, just right at them,” Kold said. “Their third basemen (Danielle Touchette) made three or four huge plays.”
Despite the lack of luck at the plate, Collinsville trailed the Maroons (8-8, 5-1 SWC) only 1-0 entering the sixth inning. However, consecutive errors led to three unearned runs in the inning. McKenzie Sisk set the Kahoks down in order in the seventh to complete the shutout.
Collinsville next travels to O’Fallon for a 4:30 game Thursday.
