Local band front man wanted for Collinsville shooting

The lead singer and namesake for the Robert Jordan Band is wanted by Collinsville Police in connection with a shooting incident that occurred Saturday, April 19.

Robert L. (RJ) Jordan, 54, of the 100 block of North Aurora Street, allegedly fired several shots at a victim who also lives in the apartment complex located in an alleyway between North Aurora and North Chestnut streets, in the Market District of Uptown Collinsville.  The victim suffered only a bruise when the only shot fired on target hit a cellular phone tucked into his front pocket.

Jordan fled the scene in a maroon Dodge minivan and is still wanted by Collinsville Police. He is considered armed and dangerous, police said. Anyone with information about the location of Jordan is encouraged to contact Major David Roth at 618-344-2131.

The Robert Jordan Band regularly plays in bars around Collinsville, the Metro East and St. Louis locations. As the lead singer for The Funky Dragons, Jordan played at the 2013 Big Muddy Blues Festival on Laclede’s Landing in St. Louis.

The Madison County State’s Attorney’s filed three felony charges against Jordan in relation to the April 19 shooting. In addition to aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm, Jordan was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He has a previous drug related felony conviction in Madison County.
