A man and woman from Granite City are each facing four felony charges of sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl in a Collinsville hotel room.
Jennifer D. Smith, 32, and Anthony Redden Jr., 36, both of 1600 block of Maple Street in Granite City are accused of traveling to the Comfort Inn on Commerce Drive in Collinsville to party with the 14-year-old victim, Lt. Todd Link of the Collinsville Police Department said.
After the couple provided drugs and alcohol to the victim, they both sexually assaulted her when she was unable to give her consent, according to charges filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s office. Redden and Smith are described by police as acquaintances of the victim.
Smith is currently held in the Madison County Jail. Redden was arrested in St. Louis, where he is being held for a parole violation. Extradition for Redden is pending, but is expected to be completed soon, Link said.
Bond for both was set at $200,000.
To BND, you really should have left out the details of how she was assaulted, the people reading this story don’t need those details and putting those details certainly won’t helping the victim.

I agree.
That was an error in judgement.
The intent was to provide clarity. It was unnecessary.
The details which could be even more harmful to the victim have been removed.
