Collinsville played its fourth straight 10-run game Thursday, unfortunately for the visitors, they came up on the short end of a 10-0 score, losing to Belleville East.
Alison Mitts stymied the Kahoks, who had averaged 12 runs in each of their previous three games. Mitts, who allowed two hits, walked one and fanned three Kahoks, moved to 12-3 on the season.
Samantha Buettner’s second inning single stood as Collinsville’s lone hit until the fourth inning, when Kassidy Smith singled with one out. Sarah Scrum followed with a fielder’s choice and moved to second on Alex Holten’s walk. The miniature rally fizzled without a run. All three Collinsville (9-4, 1-3 Southwestern Conference) batters in the fifth fanned to end the game.
Sidney Bost started for the Kahoks and yielded three earned runs to Belleville East (3-0 SWC, 13-3) in three innings. However, four errors behind her led to five unearned runs. Bost, now 4-3 on the season, walked three, hit one and struck out one.
Addison Wickiser pitched the fourth inning, yielding four hits and two runs, both earned.
The Kahoks waste little time returning to action, traveling to Centralia for a Good Friday doubleheader. The first game begins at 10 a.m.
