Mario Avalos, Melissa Diehl and Karina Ramirez have been honored by Collinsville High School for embodying the March Character Education trait, “be positive: affirm the best in people and situations.”
Despite facing physical challenges, Avalos works hard and is extremely positive in class, CHS teacher Vicki Fuhrhop said. “Mario never ceases to amaze me. He comes in everyday with a smile on his face, a positive attitude and ready to give 100 percent,” Furhop said.
Diehl can also be found with a smile on her face every day, CHS teacher Stacy Hartle, said. Diehl never has a cross word for any of her classmates and she never questions the directions given by the teacher. “She is an absolute pleasure to have in class,” Hartle said.
A very positive person with impeccable character, Ramirez serves as a leader by encouraging others to do the right thing, CHS teacher Kelli Davidson said. Ramirez defends teachers to her peers and tries to encourage her classmates to take responsibility for their actions. “She always seems to do the right thing,” Davidson said.
